Remembering Dr. Alan Greenspan
Today, we lost one of the most influential economic minds of our time, Dr. Alan Greenspan.
For nearly two decades, Dr. Greenspan served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve and became one of the most influential economic leaders in modern American history. During his tenure, he helped guide the nation through periods of growth, market volatility, and significant economic change. Respected by presidents, policymakers, business leaders, and economists across the political spectrum, Dr. Greenspan's influence shaped economic thinking far beyond his tenure at the Federal Reserve and well beyond his own generation.
At the heart of Dr. Greenspan's economic philosophy was a belief in the power of free markets, entrepreneurship, investment, and individual opportunity. He believed that prosperity is created when people are free to innovate, build businesses, create jobs, and pursue their ambitions. The policies he championed helped foster an environment of economic growth and opportunity that benefited businesses, workers, investors, retirees, and families throughout the country.
As an economics major, I spent countless hours studying Dr. Greenspan's work long before I became a CFP® professional and founded my own wealth management firm. In 2019, I had the extraordinary privilege of meeting him and hearing him speak. It was one of the most meaningful moments of my professional life. If you've ever seen the photo of him and me in my office, you know how much that moment meant to me. Meeting him truly felt like meeting one of my heroes.
I am grateful for his leadership, his contributions to economics and public policy, and the impact he had on my profession and so many others.
Thank you, Dr. Greenspan, for your service, your intellect, and your unwavering belief in the power of economic freedom and opportunity.
You will always be remembered.
Rest in peace, Dr. Alan Greenspan.
